In Pursuit of Refinement

Each conference embodies a theme that leads all participants to a unified goal. Every year the theme is created by the conference staff with hopes to motivate participants to be great leaders in their community. The theme for SBSLC 2012 is “In Pursuit of Refinement.” Below are some of our executive staff's definitions of refinement.


 

Refinement in my eyes is fine tuning and tweaking what one already believes is precious and turning it into something near perfect.

In Pursuit of Refinement reflects that we are ready to build upon the leadership skills that we already possess.  It reflects the idea that although we recognize ourselves as leaders, we still strive for perfection within that role.

Refinement means having the drive and motivation to not just be average in one's endeavorsbut also being able to use personal growth as a stepping stool to excel.

Refinement is the act/process by which a person, through consistent/thorough determination and reflection, improves/polishes already admirable personal qualities and removes trait/characteristics that blemish/taint them.
