Workshops
For the past 35 years, SBSLC has created a unique opportunity for African American college students from across the nation to assemble and collaboratively develop leadership skills for the future. Workshop presenters play an integral role in helping SBSLC continue its legacy of educating and motivating leaders who will continuously transcend limits on their campuses and in their communities. The SBSLC Executive Staff has a vision of using the conference workshops and town halls as a platform for engaging dialogue and dynamic activities that will enhance participants’ perspectives of student leadership. We welcome you to submit a proposal for a workshop presentation for the conference.

This year’s conference theme is Polishing Pressure into Purpose: Creating Diamonds that Shine. It is our hope that through inspirational and influential workshops, participants leave with a world-class foundation that aids in self-discovery while engaging socially, professionally, and academically to rebuild the overall Black student collegiate experience.
The 2027 workshop tracks include:
- Becoming Your Brightest (Personal Growth): Designed to help college students build self-awareness, confidence, resilience, and purpose. Participants will gain practical tools to overcome challenges, set meaningful goals, and pursue intentional personal growth.
- Shining through Innovation and Impact (Technology & Innovation): A track designed to help students explore emerging technologies, AI, entrepreneurship, and innovation while gaining practical tools to solve problems, create impact, and grow their careers.
- Leading Into Purpose: The Polished Leader (Attributes of a Leader): This track empowers emerging leaders to lead with confidence, authenticity, and purpose. Through self-reflection and intentional leadership strategies, participants will identify their strengths and strengthen their decision-making.
- Maximize your Radiance (The Power of Representation): This track empowers students to advocate for greater representation, equity, and opportunity in academic, professional, and cultural spaces. Student leaders will explore the impact of representation and gain strategies to use their voices to create meaningful change and uplift underrepresented communities.
- Turning Vision Into Action (Pinpointing The Next Steps): This track empowers students to execute their ideas and turn their goals into meaningful action. Participants will learn how to set measurable goals, overcome barriers, build support systems, and create actionable plans to turn their vision into tangible results.
