Conference Awards
The purpose of SBSLC is to inspire and equip student leaders to make a positive difference on their respective campuses, communities, or organizations.
The 2026-2027 SBSLC Executive Staff will continue the tradition of recognizing those who have applied the information and tools learned at SBSLC to create positive change.

The Carreathers-Scott Innovative Advisor Award
Named after the founding advisor of SBSLC, Kevin Carreathers, and one of the founding students of SBSLC, the late Douglas Scott, this award aims to recognize outstanding advisors who selflessly dedicate and commit themselves to the development of student leaders. The goal of the 2026-202 Executive Staff of SBSLC is to recognize the amazing advisors who make it their life’s work to pour into Black student leaders. Students will submit an online application and a 1-2 minute video explaining why their advisor exemplifies an outstanding and innovative advisor. The Carreathers-Scott Award recipient will have their bios, pictures, and/or videos displayed on the SBSLC website. The recipient will also be recognized during the SBSLC Closing Banquet.

Radiant Student Award
Inspired by this year’s theme “Polishing Pressure Into Purpose; Creating Diamonds That Shine” this award recognizes a single student leader who shines bright through their dedication to exemplifying Black excellence through leadership, service, and academic achievement.

Adamance Award
This award honors a student organization that has made a lasting impact on campus and within their respective community. This organization shows adamance through (as defined) stubborn determination and unyielding firmness in their purpose.

- The organization representatives must be registered for the conference by December 9, 2026
